If you every had debating in school, you chose a subject, one for it-one against. DEBATE, then switch sides. Shows who would make the better lawyer-not what you truly believe. Just check what they have done in the past, because some people will tell you anything to get in office. Remember the words of Nixon: “I am not a crook!” Note: the Holy Bible speaks of 3 tithes: 1/10th is given to the temple-your church. 1/10 is given to the poor, 1/10 is set aside, so you can visit your homeland once a year (as Jesus’s parents were doing to pay taxes before he was born). If we all paid 10% tax, the country would have more money than it could ever spend-the plan is too simple and the rich don’t get right-offs.

The Bible teaches us to tithe ten percent of our income. If each of us would do this, we would not need the government to tax us to help the poor, and we would receive a much greater blessing in our own lives by doing so.

I think that Senator McCain is quite vague and seems to be trotting out well rehearsed positions on various development and aid issues without really making any concrete commitments to changes he will make! Also I feel his attitude does come off as quite patronising or certainly patrician, a father who doesn’t quite know what to do with these darn new fangled problems the world keeps having but wants to be seen to understand the new groovy solutions that exist without in any outright way endorsing them. Obama knocks the socks off him in these video segments and on these topics I think. Only query with Obama and indeed any political promise of money is - do these figures that get bandied around ever hit the deck and actually get spent and does anybody monitor this? I also have a bit of a question about how he knows he can reach certain targets when he’s not even in office yet and doesn’t understand the fiscal trickiness of running the country first hand. Having said that, more power to him! I hope he does spend all he promises and after watching these I hope Obama really does get into power too! Deirdre, Ireland

I was disappointed with McCain’s response to this question. He sounded extremely elitist when he stated that he will not give money to governments that are corrupt. I hope that he doesn’t use this as an excuse to not provide assistance to certain countries in Africa that have a government that he finds corrupt. This should provide McCain with the want to explore other ways to reach people in these ‘countries in Africa that he will not mention.’ McCain blatantly stated that he hopes to continue the programs that the Bush administration has implemented. While, some of the programs initiated by the Bush administration may be great, we need a more aggressive and new approach to battling poverty worldwide.

Dear One,
Mr. Bush and Mr.John Sydney McCain
stand side by side on many poverty issues,,they really do not care about. Maverick. There is no fellowship, they do not care about the rest of the world as they vie for power, or retirement in Mr. Bush’s case..Mr. McCain. calls it genorosity to help 3rd world nations, I call it duty.. As one who espouses military honor , to do thy duty,,he is a far cry from doing his duty.

I as a taxpayer would rather see my
tax money go to ending global poverty than use it to bail out big corporations that have made some bad mistakes. It is all a matter of priorty. However, I do strongly feel as candidate McCain does there are safe guards in place that prevent foreign governments from cashing in on donations for their own private interests. We must insure that doesn’t happen.

Has Sarah Palin said ANYTHING about ONE’s issues??
Alaska has its share of poverty, but does she even know what REAL poverty in the greater world looks like?
As a mother, she really should acknowledge the distress of other mother’s of the world who are unable to feed their children.

Concerning video 1.I admire Mr. McCains direct an honest answer in how he feel’s he doesn’t just say what he thinks you want to hear. Also how he would ensure/support accounting procedures to be put into place for tracking of money being donated. I think that NEEDS to be done. Let’s make SURE the money we donate gets to all those who need it! He has my vote and support.
