This past weekend we tabled at the College Republican National Committee Convention in Arlington, Virginia. Nearly 200 college republicans from across the country came to the weekend’s events, and we received a lot of attention from these young leaders for our efforts on engaging candidates in all the early primary states.

Presidential candidate Sen. Sam Brownback immediately recognized our ONE booth and stopped to talk to us. He said that he understands the issues we are bringing attention to and the challenges we face. He also mentioned that he has noticed and is very pleased with our presence in several of the early primary states. During his speech to the students he talked about the value of life and directly thanked ONE for being at the convention. He even asked ONE intern Julia to standup during his speech and show off her ONE Vote ‘08 t-shirt!

Mitt Romney’s campaign was also tabling at the event, and one of his supporters, ONE member Seth Johnson, was wearing our band and talked with us about ONE Vote ‘08. All in all, the students were very receptive about ONE and ONE Vote ‘08. Some of the student leaders expressed interest in starting ONE chapters at their colleges and volunteering for ONE in the future. Hopefully all the students will wear their new ONE Vote ‘08 T-shirts around their campuses!

In two weeks, we look forward to reporting to you from the College Democrats of America Convention in South Carolina! Republican, Democrat, Independent…on these issues, we must be ONE.
